Back To Health – My Approach
I’m often asked, “What do you do exactly?”
I’m a Chiropractic Physician that practices Functional Medicine with a speciality in Nutrition.
But I believe the answer of what I do and how it influences the lives I work with is much more developed than that.
For the last 23 years my interventions have evolved and my shifts in practice have been directed by creating a deep health approach that goes beyond covering up symptoms. Getting to the source of health problems and correcting them can create a cascade of improvements.
Whether it’s to help you move better, feel better, overcome a health condition, lose weight, get fit, or strive to improve performance and longevity.
As we emerge and learn from the 2020 pandemic one thing is apparent, The US population has an obesity rate of 40% which leads to heart disease and diabetes, the comorbidities that were found to be associated with 94% of covid deaths.
There comes a time when we realize things must change. A time when gaining control over our health takes on new urgency. So I coined the term “Back to Health” an approach whose outcomes are to get back to real health.
Real Health?
Before we actually suffer a disease , there is always a preceding period of symptoms. For real health, however, we need to dig deeper and focus our attention on the preclinical phase. Patients in the preclinical stage are not yet aware of any symptoms but have the most influence in altering the likelihood of developing a particular disease.
Research in the past decade has shown us that our lifestyle and dietary choices play a bigger role in determining our risk of disease than the genes we inherited from our parents. This maturing field of science is called epigenetics and has gained a lot of attention in understanding the true causes of disease onset.
Consider our bodies like a living plant in the ground. Think of the leaves as the physical appearance of your body and any associated symptoms. It will often take years of poor lifestyle or dietary choices (the soil) to poison the body (the rest of the plant). If we truly want real health, then we need to start taking action now to reduce the multiple risk factors that contribute to disease.
When life gets crazy and responsibilities at home and work pile one on top of the other, it’s easy to let our health slip. The years go by and we don’t even realize how much our health has declined.
When it’s time to turn things around and start a new health program, however, it can be difficult to know what to do and how to do it. And staying motivated is hard — especially if you try to do it all on your own.
To make a change, you’ll need to be consistent. To be consistent, you’ll need help.
Most people who try overload themselves and burn out quickly. Instead, I’ll help you focus on the small steps that lead to big results. Together we develop plans that can best suit what you need and something you can follow.
Let me do the thinking for you.
You have enough to worry about already. Leave the details to me while you breathe easy. Lose weight, build strength, and have more energy. You tell me your goals. I’ll help you get there.
We break down how movement/exercise, diet, sleep, nutritional biochemistry, and stress/emotions are factoring into your health.
We find target points that need repair and focus on the root causes of these issues. Our interventions range from dietary modification, nutritional support, home based exercise programs, chiropractic, massage, and physical therapeutic modalities.
This is not a replacement for conventional medicine but rather a complement to your health care as we work together to give you the best of both worlds.
Whatever level you start at my goal is to help you get in the best health and shape of your life and give you the tools to stay that way.
I live and breathe this stuff every day, and have dedicated my professional life helping people like you become healthier than ever. Whatever obstacles arise, In the end, know that I’m here to support you every step of the way, no matter what life throws at you.
Your life is complex. My deep health approach looks at you as a whole person — not just what you eat, but also how you move, think, feel, sleep, and go about your daily routine. Using both the science of nutrition , biochemistry and the art of behavior change psychology, we go beyond ‘just a diet’, or a ‘quick fix’ to help you make real, lasting transformations — and become the best version of yourself
